Okay, to take the chance of being linked with famous flip-floppers of history, I'm ignoring my last post and I'm going to give some praise to Wag's Revue here.
Once I decided to ignore the manifesto and actually go into the content and read, I was impressed. There are a trio of interviews with Dave Eggers, Mark Grief, and Wells Tower that I enjoyed. I'm almost always ready to read another Brian Evenson story, and this one with photos from John Sellekaers, did nothing to make me think Evenson's losing his touch. The other stories will probably lead to me searching for more writing from their authors - Michael Paul Simons and Raleigh Holliday. The poetry was varied - one in YouTube form, one a bit of hyperlit, and five other poems. Three essays, one a 28 pager on the usage of the word douchebag lost me about halfway through, but I enjoyed "The Weeds" by Eve Hamilton and "Recede" by Alison Fairbrother quite a bit.
I'm still not sure there's a single thing revolutionary being done here, but what they did do a nice job putting this first issue together. It's going to be a quarterly. Wander over and take a read.

It's quite a manifesto, coming from writers who haven't made anything of note. And it's quite a conservative move, disallowing unsolicited work while aiming to do something no one's ever done right before. I'm not very impressed, but since the manifesto is meant to provoke outrage and therefore raise the profiles of its writers, I guess it's time to just give it what it deserves:
Shrug. Yawn.
