Shanna Compton has been kind enough to share some information via email regarding poetry chapbooks that are available, information on a poetry anthology, details about a publishing class, and a link for details as to where she and Jennifer L. Knox will be reading this fall (again, I cannot give higher recommendations if you are thinking of going to a poetry reading this year):
"The first is the release of Percapella, a chapbook of collaborative poems by Christopher Connelly & Daniel Nester, written in 2002 but unavailable for public consumption until now. It can be yours for $3 or trade. Each copy is inscribed by the authors in their own, ahem, inimitable style. Take a peek at the new Half Empty/Half Full catalog page (including a few leftover copies of the Jennifer L. Knox & David Lehman BEA broadsides) here: http://www.shannacompton.com/half-empty.html
On that page you will also notice a call for submissions for a chapbook anthology called A Slice of Cherry Pie, to be edited by Ivy Alvarez and published jointly by her micropress Private Press (UK) and Half Empty-Half Full (US). A direct link to Ivy's Private Press info page with the online submission form is here: http://zoo.f2s.com/privatepress/
The DIY Publishing class at Bowery Arts & Science I'm currently teaching is tons of fun. You can follow along if you like, by visiting our class blog: http://diypublishing.blogspot.com We also have a class reading coming up Saturday, July 30 at 2:00 at the Bowery Poetry Club in New York. The students will be reading from and showing off their self-published chapbooks and zines. Students from Tsaurah Litzky's poetry workshop will be sharing the stage with us. It's a free show. Details here: http://www.bowerypoetry.com
And allow me to direct you to the premier issue of Coconut, a new poetry webzine edited by Bruce Covey, out of Atlanta, GA. Coconut #1 includes work by Alice Notley, David Trinidad, Danielle Pafunda, Sawako Nakayasu, Wang Ping, Katy Lederer, Jon Leon, Amy Gerstler, Aaron Mccollough, Sueyeun Juliette Lee, Frank Menchaca, Shanna Compton, Ken Rumble, Lisa Lubasch, Amy King, Bruce Covey, Laurel Snyder, & Alex Lemon. Bruce just launched the mag last Friday, and has many more exciting projects in development. Enjoy! http://www.coconutpoetry.org
Finally, early copies of Down Spooky have been printed and we're about finished booking the tour for the fall. Jennifer L. Knox (whose book A Gringo Like Me will be out from Soft Skull) will be hitting the road together. Take a peek at our schedule here: http://www.shannacompton.com/readings.html"
