For those of you who may have wondered what in the hell ever came about of that project started in January - Get Lit Journals! - where many literary journals offered to give a discount on their subscription price based on one subscribing to a minimum of 3 journals - an update.
While the project was a little more than I expected - not least of all due to a nearly debilitating hard drive crash in early March - things have reached a good point this past week. Early on there was the decision to hold off a bit on passing along information to the literary journals about subscribers until I knew orders had slowed down to a trickle. Then the hard drive crash, and just a bit of incompetence on my end, but last week the information was passed along, and most of the journals involved have, through the weekend, sent out copies of the issue they published in between January and now - and one or two have issues coming in the next month that will be going out.
All in all, 37 individuals took advantage of the offer.
30 journals have new subscribers, ranging from one new reader all the way up to 14 new subscribers (Hobart).
113 subscriptions were ordered for a total of 138 years worth of subscriptions.
Over $2000 will have filtered its way into the hands of those producting literary journals when all is said and done, which hopefully will allow each of those involved to continue producing the excellent material they're known for.
As stated in the original post - this is still an ongoing offer. No journals have asked as of yet to be removed from the list of those participating, meaning you can still get discounted subscriptions to A Public Space, Absinthe, Agni, American Short Fiction, Arts & Letters, Ballyhoo Stories, Barrelhouse, Cautionary Tale, Chattahoochee Review, Cincinnati Review, Colorado Review, FIELD, Georgia Review, Harvard Review, Hobart, Idaho Review, Iowa Review, Kenyon Review, LGCR, LIT, Michigan Quarterly Review, Missouri Review, Orchid, Other Voices, Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, Rainbow Curve, Rosebud, Salt Flats Annual, Small Spiral Notebook, Storyquarterly, The Journal, The Laurel Review, The Southern Review, Thereby Hangs a Tale and TIFERET.
Any orders coming in at this time will be forwarded to the journals just as soon as incoming checks arrive. If you do take advantage of this order, send me an email with your selections, verify the correct check amount, give me your mailing address, and I'll respond verifying the price and with my address to send the check.
It would still be great if we could push this up to 100 people subscribing and even more money headed to the fine folks running these operations!
