While today was a bit of a case of wasted packaging and postage (two separate packages for what follows), I was happy to receive both. As you may have gathered from reading here, I'm a bit of a fan of the short story, and two annual awards I like to see are the Iowa Short Fiction Awards (both the Iowa Short Fiction Award and the John Simmons Short Fiction Award) and the Flannery O'Connor Short Fiction Award from the University of Iowa Press and University of Georgia Press respectively.
Today I received two packages. One contained
Invite by Glen Pourciau, which I first heard about over at Chad Simpson's blog a little over a month ago. I took a quick peek at the first story, "Snub," and really liked it. The other package contained one dog happy by Molly McNett. I actually know I received the galley of this one a couple of months ago - how could I forget the cover???
