There is a reason for the three exclamation points in the header of this post - the kind postman dropped off a few things today (more on this later) and right on top was a white envelope with MacAdam/Cage listed as the sender.
MacAdam/Cage? Really? They've been quiet for some time and there was some serious worry about whether or not they'd ever climb out of the hole they appeared to be in. Seeing this envelope got me quite excited as it implied to me that things were on the upswing.
I shot Pat Walsh a quick email noting such and he gave me a quick call. Things are indeed looking better for M/C and this book is the first of a fair amount of books that were on hold that are coming out of that hold status.
Since talking to Pat this afternoon, I've had the opportunity to glance at the book itself. As I might have assumed, after all, the reason I was so happy that M/C appeared to be back in the works was that I had always really enjoyed everything they'd published that I'd read - this long history includes Frank Turner Hollon, William Gay, David Frances, Sonny Brewer, Jack Pendarvis, Rae Meadows, Stephen Graham Jones and the list goes on.
It looks like this one is going to be right in there with M/C's past titles that I've enjoyed as Frances Lefkowitz has written a memoir titled To Have Not. A quick description of what's inside:
I'm looking forward to digging into this one soon.At the age of seven, Frances Lefkowitz began to realize other people had things that she did not and might never have. This was the moment when the world divided in two, between the Haves and the Have Nots. it was also the moment that launched her on a lifelong examination of what it means to have and have not--not just financially, but emotionally and culturally as well.
That's great news Dan. I too have been a long time fan of the Cage. I'm thrilled to hear this news. I've enjoyed many books by SGJ, Craig Clevenger, and Will Christopher Baer. Thanks for sharing.
I love that cover too. Reminds me of Ghost World for some reason.

Excellent news! We've been worried about them for a while. I'm excited to see what's in the pipeline.
